Let’s get one thing straight here. I am obsessed with chocolate. Well, dessert in general really. I know that you are too. You can’t deny it here; this blog is about openness and honesty.

But while we are being honest with each other, let’s also just recognize that sugar can be a problem as well. I’ve learned that over the years.
There was a time when I was quite the little chubster. I’ve always loved food. My first word (outside of that whole ma ma/da da thing) was “bread.” As a little kid adults hid food from me. I grew out my chub eventually, but for most of my life I just ate whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted. Then one year, I gained a lot of weight. Some would call it a freshman 15. Then I started dieting. I hated dieting and still do. Long story short, I’ve tried this and that and blah, blah, blah. What I’ve found is that I love food and I’m not happy when I try and deny myself things. Sometimes a good diet has to happen, but my goal is to avoid that forever.
So this blog is about balance. This blog is about adult me embracing my inner fat kid in a healthy, but delicious way. It’s about finding creative ways to enjoy food without being a gluttonous little piggy. Or maybe sometimes being a gluttonous little piggy. But mostly eating what I want within reason, learning to savor sweets and trying to balance that by busting my bum at the gym and living an active lifestyle.
I like to keep things healthy, most of the time. Being healthy, to me, means appreciating food. It means balancing your diet. It means eating a little of everything, but mostly veggies. I’m really glad that juice diets and cutting out carbs can work for some people, but for me I feel that would leave a void in my life. Whether we like it or not, we spend our lives eating. Most of us aren’t very good at it. It’s a skill that we all just need to work on. And that’s what I’m doing here. I like to be creative and I like to try new things. I like to eat things that are healthy and things that are decadent. I will always try to keep my dishes as simple, affordable and fresh as possible.
